Coming Soon in Interfolio Lifecycle Management: View Only User Role by Unit
The upcoming “View Only” role in Interfolio Lifecycle Management (LM) will allow Institutional Administrators (IA) to give view-only permissions to users at the unit level. This will create greater transparency while allowing for editorial oversight.
About the View Only User Role by Unit
What is changing?
Currently in Lifecycle Management (LM), all users are Institutional Administrators (IA) and therefore have the ability to view and edit all content at the institutional level. With this update, a new user role is being created to give IAs the option to invite new users to LM who can view, but not edit, the content they see.
- The new View Only user permissions can be designated at the unit level. This will allow administrators in a college department to audit their department’s faculty information in LM and alert their IA of any changes that need to be made.
When will this change happen?
This update in LM is currently projected for the end of December 2022. Timelines are subject to change.
More details
- By default, all users added to LM for an institution are assigned IA permissions.
- To reassign a user to the view-only role, an existing IA must manually apply this new permission level and remove the default IA level.
- If a user is assigned to a view-only role, but their default IA permission is not revoked, the IA permission will override the view-only role permission.
