Make a Position Public or Private (Waiver)

Faculty Search (FS) positions now feature a toggle to set the Advertising Setting to Public or Private during position creation. Public positions are visible for applicants to find and apply online, while private positions are only accessible via a private shareable link.

Create a Public or Private Position

When creating or editing a position, navigate to the Basic Information section and scroll down to the Advertising Settings section where you can select whether the position is public or private.

Available online through external job feeds managed by Interfolio and can be found on job boards like Inside Higher Ed, HERC, HigherEd Jobs, Dossier searches, and the institution's Public Positions List.

A public posting does not automatically post to these services unless users have already set up this integration.

Private positions are accessible only via a private, shareable link and are not discoverable from public position feeds managed by Interfolio, Dossier, or the institution's Public Positions list. When setting a position to Private, users must select a reason from a predefined list. Private positions are useful for internal searches, waiver hires, or reviewing a preferred candidate.

Private positions must still be published for applicants to access and complete applications.
