Create and Export a Vita with New Vita Builder

Creating and exporting a new vita is now more convenient than ever with our system's scholarly activity data. All vitas must follow a template, whether personal or institutional. The vita builder offers customization with custom text, diverse citation styles, and enhanced text styling.

Create Vita

  1. Navigate to the Vitas page and click the +Add New Vita button.
  2. Fill out the information on the Add New Vita window that displays, then click Add New Vita when finished.

A default Standard Vita Template is provided by Interfolio.

Manage Vita

  1. Navigate to the Vitas page.
    • Select the checkboxes next to the applicable Vitas to display options to Archive or Edit Vita Name.
    • You can navigate to the Archived Vitas tab to Restore, permanently Delete, and view archived Vitas.

Once a vita has been deleted, it cannot be restored. It is best to archive vitas if they may be used again in the future since archived vitas can be made active again at any time.

  2. Click the applicable hyperlinked Vita Name to navigate to the Vita's page where you can:
    1. Refresh Vita: Select the desired term and citation format

Click the Refresh Vita button after the date range and citation format is set to update the data in the CV.

    2. Add Custom Text: Click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the applicable section to open up the Add Custom Text window.

Enter freeform text and select font styling in the Custom Text field. Users can also add borders and adjust their width.

Note that the Add Custom Text feature is not supported with FAR to RPT integration, which generates a Vita in real-time based on a template, not a personalized one from the user's account.

  3. After applying changes in the Add Custom Text window, click any Save button at the top of the page to save your work.

Save as New Vita creates a new vita that inherits all the settings of the current vita and gives the new vita a name and description.

Note that the first release will not permit the bolding of the author amongst a list of co-authors/co-contributors within a publication.

  4. Click the Export button to choose between creating a shareable link, a PDF, or a Microsoft Word document.
Select Shareable Link, PDF, or Word Document.
