Establish Custom Ratings Criteria and/or a Blind Review

If permitted by the institution, Administrators and Committee Managers can set custom evaluation criteria on a 5-star scale to rate applicants in categories like scholarship, teaching, research, and publishing. Interfolio automatically calculates average scores by category and overall. A blind review option can be enabled to hide comments and ratings from other evaluators. These settings can be added when creating/editing a position.

To view specific evaluator ratings, users with proper permissions must run an applications report.

Establish Custom Ratings Criteria

  1. Navigate to the Positions page and click the hyperlinked Position name to navigate to that position's page. Select Position Actions > Edit Position.
  2. Navigate to the Evaluations Settings step on the ‘Edit Position’ navigation menu.
  3. On the Evaluation Settings page click +Add Criterion to create rating categories for evaluators. At least one criterion must be created for evaluators to have the ability to assign 1-5 star ratings. Without criteria, ratings cannot be given.
Evaluation Settings page with Add Criterion button selected

A criterion can only be deleted once all ratings are cleared by evaluators. If in use, an error message will appear.

  4. Complete the Add Evaluation Criterion form that displays and repeat for additional criteria as needed. These criteria will display on the applicant's page under the Ratings section.

Blind Review

Enable Blind Review to restrict evaluators to viewing only their own ratings and comments. When Blind Review is off, evaluators can see the Committee's Summary (average) rating and others' comments. Checking the Blind Review box hides others' ratings and comments from evaluators. Administrators and Committee Managers are not impacted by the blind review setting. They can always see the Committee Summary rating and all Comments left by evaluators.
