User Roles and Permissions in Lifecycle Management

A user's role determines their capabilities when working in Lifecycle Management (LM). There are currently three user roles in LM; Institutional Administrator, Unit Viewer, and Unit Manager. Users who are given access to LM must be assigned one of these roles. This article describes user roles in the program.

For more information on creating and managing user roles, see our article on how to Add and Manage Institutional Administrators and Viewers

About User Roles and Permissions

User Roles

  • Faculty are distinguished from users with an assigned role in LM.
  • Faculty can have both a Faculty Profile in the program and be designated with a user role in LM.
  • Faculty are added to LM through the process of data loads using the Load Data interface, and once added faculty are viewed and managed via the Faculty Roster.
  • LM users (as opposed to faculty) are added to the program and managed on the Users page, which is accessed from the Administration section of the program.
