Filter the Faculty List

The Faculty List gives users a clear and accurate overview of faculty status and activities within the institution. Administrative users can filter the list by unit, series, rank type, and event status. From the filtered list, users can take actions individually or in bulk to streamline administrative processes, reduce errors, and simplify faculty advancement workflows. You can also access an individual faculty member’s profile to view contact details, appointment information, and their professional journey timeline.

Faculty List

  1. Navigate to the Faculty page from the navigation menu to access the faculty list.

Faculty members are not directly associated with units. Instead, the unit is linked to the faculty member through their assigned appointment.

  2. Click the Filter button to refine the list of faculty members that appear. Available filters include Unit, Series (e.g., Research Professor or Clinical Practice), Rank Type, Current Event Type, Upcoming Event Type, Event Type, and the status of both current and previous faculty members.

Expected Filter Behavior

Unit: Faculty members are associated with units through their assigned appointments. They do not have a direct unit assignment on their profile. A faculty member may therefore be associated with multiple units through appointments in different units.

Upcoming Event Status: The filter first identifies events with an ‘Upcoming’ status and then applies the selected date filters. As a result, an event that has already started or ended may still appear if its status remains ‘Upcoming’ and its dates meet the filter criteria.

Upcoming Event Date: Use the date fields to filter events as follows:

  • After and Before: Returns events whose start date falls between the selected dates.
  • After only: Returns events whose start date is on or after the selected date.
  • Before only: Returns events whose end date is on or before the selected date.

Unlike Appointment Statuses, Event Statuses are not updated automatically based on event dates and must be changed manually. An event with a past start or end date may still appear in filtered results if its status remains ‘Upcoming’ and its dates match the selected criteria.

3. After applying filters, you can select a faculty member's hyperlinked name to open their profile page where you can view contact details, appointment information, and their professional journey timeline.
